Getting Started

Learn how to go from sign-up to your first table.

Getting Started Overview

NiceToMeetYou.AI matches small “synergy groups” of roughly six people for curated experiences. The product guides you from the compatibility quiz, to placing a booking a seat, to collaborating with your table on venue voting and day-of logistics. After the event you can share feedback and unlock progress reports from the same dashboard.

How NiceToMeetYou.ai Works

  1. Create your account, confirm your email, and complete the compatibility quiz.
  2. Select a city and optional neighborhoods from Select City so the dashboard shows the right event slots.
  3. Activate a subscription, then use the booking preferences modal to choose budget, language, and group gender mode before reserving a match or generating a bring-a-friend invite.
  4. As soon as operations locks in a match, the group page opens with venue voting and chat to help the conversation start smoothly.
  5. After the event, leave feedback and work toward your Real-World Feedback Report.

Last-minute seats and invitation codes use the same preferences and matching rules, so your compatibility stays consistent across every way you join a table.

How the Event Schedule Works

Our scheduling engine exposes whatever time slots the operations team publishes for your city. Early markets focus on midweek evenings because venues have availability and guests can plan ahead, but new pilot nights appear on your dashboard the moment they are added. If a week looks empty, check back later or keep an eye on the Last-Minute section.

How Last-Minute Seating Works

The Last-minute seats carousel on your dashboard is a fast lane for filling tables that still have space once the final matching pass has run. The list is ranked by the same compatibility scoring we use for regular bookings so the suggestions still feel intentional.

  • When it opens: Opportunities appear after operations finish the final match and the event is within roughly 18 hours. They disappear two hours before the start time so leads can lock the headcount.
  • Preferences carry over: Your saved last-minute filters (budget, language, dietary) gate what you see. Update the filter dialog if nothing shows up or if you want to widen the net.
  • Joining a seat: Tapping Join now runs the same booking checks as a normal reservation—no double-booking at that time, your profile gender mode must match the table, and you still need an active subscription. Successful joins flag you as a backfill guest, giving you a 10-minute grace period to cancel without a strike.
  • Bring-a-friend option: When at least two seats are open you can hold the second seat for a friend for up to 15 minutes (or until the join window closes). Your friend has to meet the same profile requirements before the invite code works.
  • After you join: The group page unlocks instantly with chat, venue voting (if still available), and your invite code if you held a second seat. From there the experience matches every other table.

Do You Offer Women-Only or Men-Only Matches?

Yes. Every booking lets you choose a group gender mode—mixed, women only, or men only. The system enforces that choice end-to-end. Your profile gender must match the mode you pick, and anyone who tries to join a gender-specific table without the right profile will see an eligibility error.

You can still bring a friend to a gender-specific match, but their profile has to meet the same criteria before the invite code works. If you ever want to switch back to mixed groups, just reopen the booking preferences modal and change the selection before confirming a seat.

When Will Other Experiences Launch?

While our matching engine is already built to support a wide range of experiences — from physical activities like escape rooms and museum visits to café hangouts — we’re currently focused on food-based activities. As we grow in popularity and more people discover us, we’ll begin rolling out these new experience types. For now, food-based activities are the best way to connect — so spread the word and help us grow!

Your First Steps

Sign up, confirm the email we send you, and finish the compatibility quiz. Next, use the Select City button on the dashboard to set your home base. From there you can subscribe, reserve a seat, accept a friend’s invite code, or browse last-minute opportunities once they open.

Where We Use AI

We want to be transparent about what is AI-generated and what is not.

AI transparency

  • Home page people eating: Not AI. Those are real photos the solo founder paid for.
  • Logos: Drafted with AI, then edited and finished in Photoshop.
  • Slot booking GIFs: AI. Yep, you guessed it. If you look close you can spot a few artifacts.
  • City images: Real photos we paid for.
  • Game covers + game GIFs: AI.
  • Matching: AI is used alongside our own matching algorithm to construct groups.
  • "Ditch the Slop" ads: Drafted with AI, then I do a heavy edit pass in After Effects.

We do not use AI as a “gotcha” or to fool anyone. When we use it, the goal is to make the experience clearer, smoother, or more fun—and we’ll keep replacing placeholders with real-world content as we grow.

Account & Subscription

Manage your profile, preferences, and billing with these guides.

Profile & Settings

Update Profile Basics

Head to Profile to update your display name and photo. You can change your name once every 30 days; photos accept JPG or PNG files and open a cropper before uploading to our storage. Other traits, such as personality inputs, come from your compatibility quiz and booking preferences.

Change Cities and Neighborhoods

From the dashboard, click Select City to open the location picker. Choose your home city and, when available, a neighborhood. We save the selection to your profile so event slots and last-minute opportunities default to the right area.

How Profile Changes Affect Matching

Updating your location, booking preferences, or last-minute filters immediately influences new reservations. Existing bookings keep the preferences they were created with, so cancel and rebook if you need the new settings applied to a specific table.

Upload a Profile Photo

Use the Change Photo button on your profile. We accept JPG or PNG images up to 4 MB. If the upload fails, try recropping the image in the built-in editor so it fits under the limit.

Access & Security

Correct Your Birth Date

Birth date changes are handled by support so we keep the 18+ gate intact. Send a note to admin@nicetomeetyou.ai from the email on file and we’ll assist.

Update the Email You Use to Sign In

Open Account > Settings > Email to replace the address you sign in with. We’ll send a confirmation link to the new address, and once verified it becomes your primary login.

Delete Your NiceToMeetYou.ai Account

Go to Account > Settings > Delete personal data and follow the prompts. We email you a confirmation and remove remaining data after outstanding bookings or payouts are resolved.

Payments & Refunds

Do I Need a Subscription to book a Seat?

Yes. The booking service checks for an active subscription before you can confirm a seat, redeem an invite code, or join a last-minute table. Subscribe at /subscribe; once Stripe confirms payment we unlock booking immediately.

Refund Policy

Subscriptions cover ongoing access to the matching service, not a specific table. Cancel a reservation at least 12 hours before start time to stay penalty-free and keep your subscription active for future dates. If operations has to step in—like dissolving a group that never locked or removing a slot for safety—we waive strikes and simply invite you to book another night; active subscriptions continue without extra adjustments.

Managing Your Subscription

Change My Subscription Plan

If we publish additional plans, you can switch between them in the Stripe customer portal. Visit /subscribe; if you already have an active subscription we’ll redirect you to Manage Subscription where you can change plans or update payment details.

Cancel My Subscription

Open your profile and choose Manage Subscription, or go to /subscribe and click Manage Subscription to access the Stripe portal. Cancelling stops future renewals but keeps access until the end of the current billing period.

Troubleshooting

Solutions for booking snags and technical glitches.

Reservation Issues

Why Don’t I See Any Events?

Make sure you have completed the compatibility quiz, and selected a city. If all of that checks out it simply means we have not published new slots for that time window yet—keep an eye on the dashboard and the Last-Minute section for fresh openings.

What Happens If There Aren’t Enough People?

The matching engine runs additional passes and opens the table to last-minute members. If we still can’t fill the seats, operations merges compatible groups or releases the slot. We’ll notify you through email, push, and in-app alerts, waive any strike, and invite you to grab another night—your subscription simply stays active for future bookings.

Can I Book Multiple Events in a Week?

Yes, as long as the slots don’t overlap. The system blocks duplicate bookings for the same time but you can hold multiple confirmed seats across different days or experiences.

How We Handle Unforeseen Circumstances

No Show strikes are community given. If severe weather, transit outages, or venue issues crop up, drop a quick note in the group chat so your table knows you’re skipping without triggering a no-show review. Its up to them :)

Why Can’t I See My Group’s Details Anymore?

Group pages stay live while you have an active booking. If you cancel or the event has passed, we archive the roster to protect everyone’s privacy. Save any contacts through the group page before the event concludes or email support if you need billing documentation.

App & Website Issues

I Can’t Log Into My Account

Confirm that your email is verified and that you’re using the same login method (email/password, Google, or Microsoft) you used originally. You can reset your password at /account/login. Still locked out? Email admin@nicetomeetyou.ai and we’ll help.

Is There a Mobile App?

Not yet. The entire experience runs in the responsive web app, so you always have the latest version without installing anything.

Trust & Safety

How we keep your experiences respectful and secure.

Privacy & Preferences

Can I Avoid Being Matched with Someone I Know?

Yes. Use the Block control on the group page or after submitting feedback. Blocked members are excluded from your future matches and invitations.

Reporting & Behavior

Is NiceToMeetYou.ai Safe?

We require verified email, phone, and 18+ birth dates, and we track strikes for late cancellations and no-shows. Every group page includes chat moderation tools, reporting, and the ability to block users instantly. Operations reviews severe reports and can suspend accounts when needed.

How the Strike System Works

Strikes keep tables reliable without punishing honest schedule changes. Cancelling inside the 12-hour cutoff adds one strike; a verified no-show adds two strikes. Reaching three strikes pauses your subscription, cancels future bookings, and locks new reservations for 30 days.

  • Late cancellations: Cancel at least 12 hours out. Inside that window we add one strike unless the table is already down to two confirmed guests or you release a last-minute seat within the 10-minute cool-off.
  • No-shows: We wait roughly 12 hours after the slot. If a majority of confirmed tablemates mark “no show,” we log attendance, add two strikes, and notify you. Post in the group chat or cancel early to avoid that review.
  • Strike decay: Every 30 strike-free days automatically remove one strike, so steady participation resets your record over time.

If you do hit the limit, operations sends a suspension notice, pauses billing, and wipes future reservations. You can book again once the suspension window closes and your strike count falls below the cap.

Event Policies

Cancellation Policy

Cancel from the dashboard or profile at least 12 hours before your table starts to stay penalty-free while keeping your subscription active. We waive strikes when a table is already under-filled, when you release a last-minute seat within the 10-minute grace period, or when operations dissolves a group for logistics or safety. Because memberships cover ongoing access, we don’t adjust billing for missed tables—just pick another open night that works for you.

If an emergency pops up close to go-time, post in the group chat so everyone knows you’re stepping out. That quick heads-up prevents no-show reviews and helps your table plan around the change.

NiceToMeetYou.ai Is Not a Dating App
